The ideal project scope is a flexible one
by Balázs Molnár, Vice President of Project Delivery at Organica Water
The right project scope definition is one, if not the most important, aspect when developing a project with our delivery partners. We aim to deliver our know-how, core technology in engineering, equipment and software, with the balance of a wastewater treatment plant ideally being supplied from the local market, using locally available resources, creating additional business opportunities for others.
Supporting this dialogue with our market partners and clients, Organica Water developed groups of standard supply packages including:
- Silver package*
- Gold package
- Platinum package
- Turnkey package
*While not always the best option, Organica aims to develop long term partnerships where the Silver package is the standard solution to fulfilling our customer’s needs.
Why Silver?
- Provides the fastest solution to an existing need; just as a missing piece of a puzzle
- Flexible
- Mindful about the customer needs and yet offers a nice architectural touch
- Brings expertise to the table
- Innovative
- Unique in the industry
- Best value and price ratio, offering the most efficient CAPEX / OPEX combination
In line with this concept, Organica Water prefers to engage local partners instead of taking on the full in-country scope, as the local partners have a better understanding to ensure:
- Local civil, electrical, seismic, and fire codes are met
- Mechanical equipment is cost effective and have spare parts easily available
- Ensuring that local dialogue with operational standards are considered
- Local construction materials are utilized
- Minimal equipment supply from Organica reduces cost by eliminating additional markups, shipping expenses, and any import/export duties that may apply
- Minimal equipment supply allows the onsite management to best coordinate various deliveries.
While Organica provides the design and supplies the core products and systems (including biomodules, discfilters (if necessary), and process control software) needed [JL2] to implement its design, the rest of the pieces of the puzzle (like civil construction; equipment, piping and electrical supply) is performed by a local partner under the Silver package.
The right project scope has to suit the needs of the market by sufficiently empowering and incentivizing our local partners while timely delivering a project. In this way, we aim to be flexible in each market we are active in. For example: we have done this fruitfully in several jobsites, such as Heyuan in China, Bhatpara in India, and Marubeni in Indonesia.
